Learning in Lismore is not confined to the classroom but incorporates a wide range of educational experiences including theatre and cinema trips, field work, workshops, visits to places of geographical and historical interest as well as input from many visiting speakers on issues relevant to the students’ courses. The expressive arts in their many diverse forms – drama, art, physical education and music play an important role in the holistic development of all students. Our Extended Schools programme includes a range of interests from Digital Imaging, to cookery Club, from making Garden Furniture to working with Textiles, from gardening to e-Twinning, some of which are also open to parents and primary school pupils. School Productions

Choirs There are two choirs in Lismore: Mixed Voice Choir and Chamber Choir •Mixed Voice Choir meets every Monday from 3.30 – 4.15 •Chamber Choir meets every Wednesday at Lunch time There are currently 55 members in the Mixed Voice Choir and 15 members in the Chamber Choir. The music selected for each choir displays a wide variety of genres and is for both liturgical and non-liturgical events.
School Orchestra The school orchestra consists of students from years 8 to 14. Students who receive instrumental tuition in school are obliged to play in the school orchestra. There are approximately 40 students in the orchestra. Rehearsals take place every Wednesday from 3.30 – 4.15. Throughout the school year, the orchestra play at prizegiving, open night and the annual Carol Service. The orchestra has also participated in Portadown festival.
School productions Lismore Comprehensive School stage a whole school musical production every two years. This is a very popular activity and involves pupils from years 8-14. Some of our productions have included: Beauty and the Beast, Grease and Hairspray. This year our production was Little Shop of Horrors and it was a resounding success.
